Ellen bell

Artist Ellen Bell combines silhouettes and words to make her sensitive work below and here I particularly like the film she made about her solo show ‘Hard Words’ at The Air Gallery, London 2008. The introduction reads:

‘Through this series of work Bell is attempting to stretch the limitations of written language as a means of intimate and impassioned expression. Words such as ‘mother’, ‘daughter’, ‘son’, ‘wife’, ‘home’ and ‘family’ are offered up via a kind of serendipitous, scalpel-led, culling of chosen literary tomes from which the selected words are redolent of the mind-sets and prejudices of the time’, (extract).

These cut out words create an interesting composition which could be developed within our magazine. We are not 100% sure of the concept of the magazine yet, however we are certain we want to combine artists, illustrators, painters and photographers work to create a buzz ...pushing creativity to a max!!
There is so much beautiful work from aspiring artists out there that are unheard of, its time a publication recognises this from all fields of creative skills.
