Papier Fashion

In this months issue, Meow is supplying our readers with a list of great exhibitions to check out this summer, a personal fav is Papier Fashion at Museum Belrive in Zurich.

The Pap(i)er Fashion Exhibition  takes us through the fascinating history of paper clothes, beginning with the Swinging Sixties in America and, as the trend spread later, to Europe. The paper fashions reflected what was happening in art, politics and culture at the time; Pop Art and Op Art, Company logos, newspaper prints, and even the electoral candidates of 1968.

Prague has taken full advantage of its newfound capitalism, offering infinite shopping, numerous venues to eat and drink and endless activities to occupy the tourists. HOT spot: Copenhagen

Meow zine is going to feature three chosen HOT.spots. in countries/cities which our readers can visit this summer 2010. For our chosen HOT.spots. information will be provided on where to stay.dine.shop.explore.be inspired by.

My first chosen hot spot is Copenhagen- The city of one of Europe's oldest capitals.

- beautiful theatre architecture

- The little Mermaid. The sculpture of the “Little Mermaid” is based on a fairy tale of the Danish poet and writer Hans Christian Andersen. Some Danish people claim that this sculpture is one of the most photographed statues in the world.

World wide graffiti

Meow.thinks.graffiti needs more recognition.

Graffiti Art

The world of graffiti..... this is a form of 'Art' I am really interested in. Some might not consider graffiti as artwork, I however think its an incredible form of self expression and creativity which happens to be seen almost everywhere and anywhere all over the world.
Graffiti artists such as the Phun factory or the united graffiti artists in New York solicit places to do legal graffiti such as abandoned buildings, businesses or community walls in parks. This is something I am very keen on doing an article in Meow.

Hardland/heartland

Hardland/Heartland zine is an amorphous cluster of artists working to create an ongoing visual investigation of our own personal histories, cultural interactions and possible futures.

I like their

Esquire.

I have been researching high and low for some really unique zines for inspiration and innovation. I have come across Esquire Zine, those who attended menswear day at london fashion week including shows from Savile Row to Somerset house were lucky recipients of the very first Esquire zine. A Manual For A Stylish Life, an ingeniously foldable compendium of interviews, trends, and advice, taking a sideways look at all things menswear.

The colours, fonts and layout used is very simple and minimalist. However this is what stands out for me.Sometimes less is more and in this case it works beautifully! The contrast of the neon pop colour against the black and white format gives it a retro spin! I like a.l.o.t.
